On Monday July 10, Word In Your Ear presents EIGHT MILES HIGH: the Byrds plus the Boss.

Johnny Rogan has finally finished his epic account of the tangled story of the Byrds and is over from Ireland for what promises to be a fascinating evening on the Crosby, McGuinn, Gram Parsons and the whole ragged cast of firebrands and malcontents. Anyone who heard his WIYE podcast on Ray Davies – or read his marvellous Morrissey & Marr: The Severed Alliance – will know the level of wit, insight and knowledge to expect from Byrds: Requiem For The Timeless Vol 2.

We’re thrilled that we’ll also be joined by famed Byrds expert and friend of the pod Sid Griffin.

And we’re absolutely made-up that in the first hour of the evening Sarfraz Manzoor will be coming along to talk to David Hepworth about their shared interest in Bruce Springsteen. Sarfraz may be known to you from his radio and TV work and also his acclaimed book Greetings from Bury Park: Race, Religion and Rock and Roll. He and David will also be talking about Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography which is out in paperback in July and, let’s face it, could probably use the publicity.
