“Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings will release Bob Dylan’s ‘The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11′ on November 3rd (pre-order here). Compiled from meticulously restored original tapes – many found only recently – this historic six-disc set is the definitive chronicle of the artist’s legendary 1967 recording sessions with members of his touring ensemble who would later achieve their own fame as The Band. ‘The Basement Tapes Raw: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11′, a two-disc version of highlights from the deluxe edition, will also be released on November 3. Classic Album Sundays is hosting a special ‘Basement Tapes‘ session on Tuesday, 21 October at Bag O’Nails in Soho, a classic rock venue where Jimi Hendrix performed. Long Ryder, Coal Porter and Dylan authority Sid Griffin will join us as our special guest to relay the story behind Dylan’s legendary 1967 recordings with The Band at Big Pink. Griffin is a true Dylanologist and has published two books on his favourite subject: ‘Million Dollar Bash: Bob Dylan, The Band and The Basement Tapes’ and ‘Shelter from the Storm‘. Due to his extensive research we are sure he will be able to answer any questions you may have.

The CAS evening will also include a full vinyl album replay of the original ‘Basement Tapes‘ on our state-of-the-art audiophile hi-fi and a preview of some of the previously unreleased recordings featured on the new deluxe edition.”
